How to avoid scams when buying used PC parts
Used-hardware scams follow patterns. Knowing them makes you safe, on TechEscrow or anywhere else.
Common red flags
- "Pay me directly, it is faster." Any request to pay outside the Platform, by UPI, bank transfer or a link, is a scam. Payment protection exists only inside TechEscrow.
- Prices far below market. A card that costs half the usual price is rarely honest.
- Stock photos or screenshots. A real Seller can show the actual part with a note or timestamp on request.
- Pressure. "Others are waiting, decide now." Real deals can wait for you to test.
- Moving to WhatsApp or a call. The point is to get you away from a record and protection.
- Mismatched specs. Fake cards often report one model while being another.
- Fake payment screenshots. No one can prove payment by a screenshot. Only the order page confirms payment.
Stay safe
- Keep all talk and payment on TechEscrow.
- Ask for photos of the serial number and the actual part, and a purchase invoice for newer items.
- Film the unboxing without cuts and test the part within the 48-hour window.
- Never share your OTP, password, or a delivery OTP before you hold the parcel.
